Top 5 Reasons for You – and Your Clients – to Celebrate Your Independence

Growing up, the 4th of July was always a big day in my small Midwestern community.  Dad would wear his stars and stripes tie (the dude always wore a tie), hot dogs were on the grill and we would jump in the car as it got close to sunset to find fireworks in a neighboring town.  As I have gotten older, Independence day seems to go on for a full week as different venues have their fireworks shows on alternative days – a new tradition of which I completely approve – I still love sitting outside watching them burst in the air.

This 4th of July week as we fill our coolers, grab our sparklers and get ready to celebrate our Declaration of Independence, there’s no better time to also celebrate you, the independent advisor.

Why are you fireworks-worthy?

1. You have the ability to choose the products that best fit your clients’ needs.

There’s no pressure from “management” to sell what they want. You have the freedom to focus on and select the best options to meet the unique needs of each individual client.

2. You create a service model that works for you *and* your clients.

You get to build relationships the way you want. Smaller “accommodation” accounts, like one of your top clients’ kids, are not relegated to a call center.

3. You can be a fiduciary.

You get to put your clients’ best interests first, always. It’s all about doing what’s best for them, rather than meeting a sales goal. That means you can make adjustments without having to go through layers of approval.

4. You have choices.

You can choose the technology that delivers an optimal client experience. You don’t have to pay for services you don’t want or need. You can select the services that support your business model. You can set your own schedule and work from wherever you choose.

5. You are accountable.

It is your business and your word. And because you’re not going anywhere, that builds trust – with your staff and your clients.

I hope you enjoy whatever July 4 festivities you have planned!
