In a previous post, I Now Pronounce You Work and Life, I shared that I was going to be giving a TEDx Talk in Harrisburg. The theme of the event was “Thrive” and I was chosen to share my passion for work/life integration.
Regular readers know how much I like to reflect and that I work hard to create a career that enables my life. But I was not always that way. I hope you will take a look at my journey. I’m very proud of the path.
There are (I hope) messages of inspiration throughout my 16-minute talk (thanks to TEDxHarrisburg for allowing me the extra minute). My path was inspired by key influencers in my life. I am so happy and proud of the life I’ve been fortunate enough to lead, which fully integrates family, work and community. The journey is constantly evolving, and so I look for inspiration on a daily basis to keep my journey relevant.
And inspiration is a funny thing. It can be all around you, even when you aren’t aware of it. In the days since my TEDx Talk went live on YouTube, I have been genuinely humbled and touched by the number of people who told me I inspired them by sharing my story. I can honestly say, if I have played even a small part in their journeys, I am extremely honored. So many of you continue to inspire me each day.
I have spent 20 years trying to perfect the integration of work, family and community – and I feel the world is now in a much better place to enable me to do so. Work is changing, dreams are more achievable. Having it all is closer to being within reach than it once was. I encourage all of you to share your journeys of inspiration and fulfillment. Let’s use this community as a forum to learn from each other and continue to thrive.
I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to be part of the fantastic TEDxHarrisburg inaugural event.
I wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season. I am taking time off for Thanksgiving and will return on Tuesday November 29.
